      So for materials to conduct electricity, they need to have electrons that are free to move about that material – that is why metals are so good at conducting electricity! For an insulating material, we need to try and stop this from happening. If you think about it, most things round about us don’t conduct, and are good insulators like glass, wood, paper, plastic.

      Whether a materials conducts or not is a property of the material, not usually because we have added something to it
