      Chances are that the cardboard would get dissolved up quicker, but this will depend on the type of acid and what the plastic was.

      Acids are very good at breaking down organic materials, molecules that contain carbon, this is why acids are used a lot in household cleaning products.

      Acids will dissolve cardboard quicker than plastic. Acids that we buy for use in our laboratory come in plastic bottles. This plastic does not react with the acid.
