• Question: why do you love science and what do you call a scientists who looks through a microscope as a scientists.

      I love science because everything made such as mobile phones, cars and computers involve science. If we didnt have science we would not have so much technology or medicine to make us feel better when we are sick.

      A lot of different scientists such as forensic scientists or biologists use microscopes to see objects which are too small to see with the naked eye.

      I love science. Scientists make great new things, such as new materials or medicines, and also try to answer questions. Scientists also make sure we have clean water to drink, enough food to eat and that we are fit and healthy.

      Microscopes allow you to see very small things, and are very important in medicine. You body is made up of atom, the smallest building blocks of the universe. These join up to form molecules, and these form cells. Special doctors use microscopes to see cells taken from patients, to see if they have healthy cells, or diseases like cancer.

      In chemistry, microscopes are used to look at crystals – very small structures that look like diamonds (diamonds are very large crystals). I use a microscope to check the crystals I make are the correct size and shape.

      You can get a special microscope that does not use lenses called a scanning electron microscope. This allows us to see things that are too small for a normal microscope:

      I was the kind of kid who stuck a fork in a plug to see what happened (parents yelled – I learned it was a bad idea). Science is a way for me to explore the world and figure out how things work. Luckily, I get to work with people who stop me from blowing myself up by doing something daft.

      I use a microscope all the time as part of my work, there’s loads of different types of microscopes and so most scientists use them. There’s not really a special name for the scientists who use microscopes.
