I love science because it helps explain why things happen, but also helps us make new things. I also like building things like Lego or Mechano, and I find chemistry lets me build really really small things. What I build are molecules, tiny structures which can be used in medicines, or even give things colour.
In my job I make crystals, and sometimes the size and shape of crystals is important. I use a microscope to see these tiny crystals.
Biologists use microscopes to see cell – the tiny components that make up your body.
There is a special microscope that does not use lenses, called an electron scanning microscope, and allows us to see even smaller things! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scanning_electron_microscope
