• Question: Why don't rubber bands rub out pencil markings but erasers which are the same material do?

      Rubber bands are manufactured using natural rubber because of its superior elasticity. Erasers are manufactured using synthetic rubber. So they are slightly different.

      I have never tried to use a rubber band to rub out pencil however I think you may be able to use it however it is not as good as when using a eraser.
